Rules for building specifications

Updated over a month ago

Building specifications in QC One follows a set of rules designed to protect data integrity and ensure a smooth experience for QC One Inspector app users. Inspectors can only work with complete, fully prepared specifications—this prevents confusion and avoids situations where important information is missing.

As you create a specification, the system will guide you by highlighting any missing required information in red and showing a validation error. This makes it easy to identify and fill in the gaps, ensuring that every published specification is accurate, complete, and ready for use.

Below is an explanation of the most common validation errors that you might encounter whileing building a specification.

1. You cannot publish a specification without a name

2. You cannot change specification names after they have been published

If you open a specification that has already been published, its name will appear greyed out and cannot be edited. This rule helps preserve data integrity and prevents system errors for customers who connect their ERP systems to QC One.

3. You cannot publish a specification if one or more sections do not have a name

4. You cannot publish a specification that does not include any blocks

This rule ensures that only complete and meaningful specifications are sent to users in the QC One Inspector app. If a specification is not published, it will not be available for users to select in the app.

5. You cannot publish a specification if one or more text blocks do not include any text

This rule ensures that only complete and meaningful specifications are sent to users in the QC One Inspector app.

6. You cannot publish a specification if one or more image blocks do not include an image

This rule ensures that only complete and meaningful specifications are sent to users in the QC One Inspector app.
