No longer using a category and want to clean up your active list?
If a category is no longer in use or you’re ready to retire it, you can choose to deactivate it. Deactivating a category won’t delete any data — instead, it will archive the category, removing it from your active list while keeping all records safely stored. This helps keep your workspace organized without losing historical information.
Keep in mind: It’s not possible to deactivate a category that’s still used in an active specification. To deactivate such a category, first open the relevant specifications — you’ll find them listed at the bottom of the category page. Remove the category from each specification. Once the category is no longer in use, you’ll be able to deactivate it.
Steps to deactivate a category:
Navigate to Library → Products
Open the tab with the name Categories
Click on the ‘Deactivate category’' button next to the category that should be deactivated
Good to know:
It is not possible to deactivate the default ‘'Uncategorized’' category. This category is there to ensure that all of the products in the system belong to a category.
Only users with the user role Administrator can manage the list of categories
Deactivated categories can be reactivated.
