This article explains how a finished inspection unit is defined in Product Specification Manager Inspections and how this differs from the legacy inspection system.

How Finished Units Work in Product Specification Manager

Product Specification Manager does not use the concept of important parameters.

Instead, a unit is considered finished only when the user explicitly decides that an inspection unit is complete.

An example of a specifications inspection with 5 units among which none are finished:

To finish a unit in Product Specification Manager:

1.Unit the desired inspection unit

2.Enter the data where/if applicable

3.Press the ‘Finish unit’ button

4.Confirm/ Finish unit

5.Finished units are colored green

This color coding makes it easy to quickly identify:

  • Which units are finished

  • Which units are still in progress/not inspected

Why Units Are Finished Manually

Manual completion gives users greater flexibility and control over the inspection process.

With this approach, users can decide:

  • When enough information has been collected

  • When a unit should be finalized

Why Finishing Units Is Important

Finishing units is not only a visual or workflow step—it directly affects reporting.

Only finished units are included in Product Specification Manager inspection reports.

If a unit is not finished:

  • It will not appear in inspection reports

Summary

  • In the old system, units were finished automatically when important parameters were filled in

  • Product Specification Manager does not use important parameters

  • Units must be finished manually using the Finish Unit button

  • Finished units are shown in green

  • Only finished units appear in inspection reports

Always remember to finish your units to ensure accurate inspection results and complete reporting.
