Active Licensee Limited to One

Updated yesterday

With the release of QC One Inspector App Version 20.10.0, we are introducing an important improvement to how active licensees are handled within the Inspector seat.

Previously, users working across multiple licensees were able to select more than one licensee as active at the same time. While this setup allowed inspections from multiple environments to sync simultaneously, it also introduced several challenges.

To improve performance, clarity, and future scalability, active licensees are now limited to one at a time.

Why This Change?

Although selecting multiple active licensees may have seemed convenient, it led to:

  • Longer synchronization times
Syncing inspections from multiple environments at once increased data processing and slowed down overall performance.

  • Reduced transparency
It became harder to clearly identify which inspections belonged to which environment.

  • Complexity for future development
Supporting multiple active licensees added unnecessary technical complexity, particularly as we continue evolving the platform toward the Specification Manager module.

By limiting users to one active licensee at a time, we ensure:

✔ Faster and more stable sync performance
✔ Clear ownership of inspections per environment
✔ A more future-proof foundation for upcoming enhancements

What Has Changed?

With Version 20.10.0, the following updates are now in place:

1. Active Licensee Displayed in the Header

The currently active licensee is now clearly visible in the application header.
This provides immediate clarity about which environment the user is working in.

2. Active Licensee Visible in Settings

The Settings modal now displays the currently active licensee for full transparency and easier management.

3. Licensee Setting Updated to Single Selection

The Licensee setting now allows single selection only instead of multiple selections.

Users can still switch between all licensees they have access to — but only one can be active at any given time.

Switching is simple and ensures inspections sync only with the selected environment.

What This Means for Users

  • Users working across multiple licensees can still access all their environments.

  • Only one environment can be active at a time.

  • Sync performance will be improved.

  • Inspection ownership and environment clarity are significantly enhanced.

  • When a user who previously had multiple active licensees updates to Version 20.10.0, the system will automatically select the licensee where the user most recently created an inspection as the active licensee.

This change strengthens the stability and scalability of QC One Inspector as we continue preparing the platform for deeper integration with the Specification Manager module.
